Summer homework

Please complete the Lee Rigby case study and ensure that you have researched the media theory terms listed on the case study sheet (below)

Keep an eye out for new and interesting stories relating to the media over the summer.
For example,
- do you notice any new developments in media technology over the summer and the way in which audiences use them?
- look at how different news organisations report on the same story. How does their language, choice of images and audience differ?
- is there any music videos, tv dramas, films, apps etc that provoke a strong (positive or negative) reaction from audiences or institutions? Why is this?
- is there any changes in media ownership, their funding or structure in key media institutions like the BBC, Channel 4, Google, Twitter, Universal, Sony etc

Finally, do keep an eye out on the blog as I will continue to add resources, articles and links to areas of interest that will broaden your knowledge for the exam. But a word of warning: DO NOT SOLELY RELY ON THIS. The exam needs to demonstrate your own independent thought and research, and as a result, you need to start exploring these contemporary media issues yourself. Feel free to 'comment' on my blog posts by adding links and a brief explanation of anything that you find that is of interest in your own research.

Have a fantastic summer!

Mrs Jones
